Hi, I'm only running one wheel setup for every class, the one in the article.

But for some of the classes I reduce the FFB in the game.

Hi, what's wrong with setting it to automatic mode?

1

Nothing special here. The automatic mode simply loads the recommended Fanatec settings.

But if you want something more tailored to your driving style, you can always fine tune everything in the menu and make the setup truly your own.

Hello, when i drive my dd extreme there is a grinding noise in the wheelbase so what could that be?thx

Also when there are people beneath me on a floor lower they say: Where is that noise coming from,it is an earthquake???

I am not exactly sure what the issue might be. It could be that your base is not properly secured, leaving a small gap between the base and the mounting point.

At the same time, it might be related to your rig. It is difficult to say without taking a closer look.

Hello Digit,

Are you planning on updating your youtube video (link below) for latest hardware settings for DD Extreme post 1.67 GT7 update and various fanatec firmware updates? With new updates, some settings are not avialable in the wheel base. I was thinking your view would be helpful to the community.

I reserached some of the settings and noticed some settings are consistent with streamers while othere vary based on preference, which makes sense. I am three months into Sim racing (started on G923 and upgraded recently to DD Extreme) and the jouney is fun.

A few questions for you:

1) Does a stable wheel (less oscillation and movement) Vs. one with high degree of feedback and movement impact overall speed on a long straighway? I noticed some top drivers in the recent time Tokyo Express Time Trial hit 186 mph while others only got to 185 mph. Just wondering if wheel settings may have something to do with this.

2) Do you adjust in-game torque on different cars? Can you provide some general insight?

3) I noticed many streamers use F1 type wheel over Grand Turisome Extreme round wheel (Also seen in EA events). Are there benefits?

3) On time trials, I can easily land bronze, silver requires correcting mistakes learned from watching leader replays, and gold requires 8 Hrs+ grind and luck. The PS5 says I have 280 hrs on this game. Any recommendations on exercises / track / car to build consistency and fine tune hardware settings. I am currently on effective torque of 5.1 Nm (in-game sensitivity of 7).

Okay just answer your questions.

  1. I honestly do not think it does. I have not seen any proof that it actually affects top speed. At the same time I have not run any proper experiments myself, but so far it has never prevented me from reaching higher speeds.
  2. I do sometimes adjust it, but mostly it is just small changes to the force feedback in the game. Usually I change it by one or two points depending on the car or how the wheel feels.
  3. That one is mostly personal preference.
  4. If you ask me, these settings should not really be the top priority, especially if you are usually a silver level player. The differences you get from settings are much more relevant when you are trying to reach something like the top one percent. What is usually more important is understanding what the actual problem is. It can be many different things, so focusing on the driving itself will often bring much bigger improvements. I am not saying you are slow, but there is definitely a priority list. In my opinion it is better to start from the top of that list and work your way down instead of trying to find gains in areas that might not give much value.

Also, the settings in the table you shared are not the same as the ones in the article. Those are actually my updated settings. The video is a bit older and shows the previous version. But you did give me a good idea. I might make a new video explaining the updated settings in more detail.

Digit -  Thanks for you prompt follow-up.

I do agree, focus should be on gameplay not the settings for players my caliber. Grinding for gold on time trial doesn't build repeatable skills. Can you kindly recommend some exercises that will be beneficial for players who are mostly silver level and want to work up to gold? I do the usual licensing tests and circuit experieces which are helpful but I am sure there are specfic challenges that you may feel that anyone interested in raising their level of play should complete. Any pointers are appreciated.

Thanks

Hi. I do not have a specific drill in mind right now, and that can actually help you. I do not know how you drive, and I do not know what your main problems are. I could only guess.

If you would like, you can share your replay and I can take a look at it. If you share the replay, the tag is dgedge.
