yea idk what the obession with hard tires is but they are trash. its a shitty week imo
I've found the changes in track limits to be a tad confusing, as I had put in many laps beforehand. Something in between the old and new limits would be far more manageable. I like this track a lot, regardless. A little more forgiveness would go a long way.
Stupid track limits booooooooo, hard tyres booooooooo.
So crap. Why always hard tyres? And track limits are ridiculous
What is up with track limits here? Some of these drivers are in a whole other zip code and nobody is getting penalized 😡
What the actual FCK, these track limits are ridiculous. PD what are you doing?
not Bad. hard tyres and tight track limits really sorts the men from the boys. 1:55.888 in the old RSR isn't to shabby. 12 wins from 12 starts. this is a good week.

That’s definitely it. It couldn’t possibly be that this “boy” only gets a very generous 30–45 minutes a week to play.
And sure, the track limits being a mess and the time penalties being handed out like they’re decided by a coin flip clearly have nothing to do with it. That system definitely doesn’t need fixing at all.
Maybe if I had unlimited free time like a real man who can play every single day, I could sit there and figure out how to work around all this nonsense. Unfortunately, I actually have a life.

Wasn't aimed at you or anyone specifically mate. "Sorts the men from the boys" is just a saying, it means the track is demanding and rewards precision which is what tight track limits do. Hard tyres and strict white line limits make the track punishing for everyone regardless of how much time you have to practice.
As for the track limits themselves, staying inside the white lines with two tyres is the standard real world rule at Yas Marina. It's not broken or random, it's how the track is supposed to be driven. The penalties might feel harsh but they're consistent, if you put two tyres beyond the white line you get penalised. That's not a coin flip that's a clear boundary.
I get that 30 to 45 minutes a week makes it harder to learn where those limits are compared to someone who can run 50 laps. That's a genuine disadvantage and nobody would argue otherwise. But the limits themselves aren't the problem, they're the same for everyone. The challenge is finding clean lap time within them and that's what makes this week interesting regardless of how many laps you can put in.

Alright, no worries. I agree with some of what you’re saying. However, I do still believe the track limits here are inconsistent.
There are multiple videos from top split replays where drivers take a wide line into Turn 1, hit the braking-point meter board, and do not receive a penalty for exceeding track limits. Then, in my own replays, I clearly have two tires still on the track, yet I get a 1-second penalty.
I’ve never really had an issue with track limits before, so at first I honestly thought it was something I was doing wrong. But after coming here, seeing the Discord discussions, and comparing other replays, it made me think, “Okay, maybe this isn’t just me. Something doesn’t seem right here.”
Anyways, glad some of you are having fun!

I'm generally what I think most would consider a moderately skilled player and I haven't had any problems with limits that I would not put down to anything other than me exceeding those limits. A few times I've watched my replays, and yes - over the limits. Just about every other time I've been able to correctly predict an incoming penalty.
I think what makes this trickier for some is the fact that we’ve just come off a week at Watkins where the track limits are arguably more forgiving (in the corners certainly - limits are the outside of the kerb/rumble strip, not the inside), and that Watkins is generally a fast track with a higher count of long sweeping corners that may be easier for some to navigate. That’s how I interpret it anyway.
Also, not that I have checked, but I don’t remember the hard tyre element of the race last week at Watkins being quite so slippy. I imagine there might be ambient/track temp differences that could be playing into the slippiness this week?
But yeah, pretty sure Kaz is rage baiting everyone this week.
Personally I have had a great week so far, gaining ~8k DR, just in time for the last round of the manufacturers cup.
When I saw this combination as a future race on Friday, I made a lobby to practice it and for fun which may have helped, and in those races I adhered to championship track limits which turned out to be the right decision... So on Monday morning (I had the day off school) I was doing pretty well, so I would strongly recommend doing that if you know you will play on Monday (especially Monday morning).
In terms of the track limits, from my experience Sector 1 is very strict, as is the chicane (T6 and T7). After that, it is way more lenient, although some kerbs in the hotel section are still strict. The last two corners are very lenient and you can go completely onto the kerbs without getting a penalty.
This is from my experience, it may be slightly wrong, but you can see overall that there is inconsistency. If you are struggling with track limits, this is probably why, so bear in mind that up to the chicane, the limits are very strict, and the last two corners are very lenient, if that helps.
This highlights issues with track limits very clearly, and I do not think it should be too hard to fix, but there's nothing we can do sadly. So even though I personally have had limited problems with track limits, it is definitely an issue for Polyphony to sort out, but if you follow my advice based on my own experience, that may help :)
screw this race, my SR has been obliterated this week, between the occasional track limit (i've somehow managed to understand where the limit is), and the constant getting bumped off track or into corners by other racers that somehow makes ME lose SR. I'm so glad its a new race in a couple of hours
I'm really going to miss this race! The stars aligned for me this week and I got my first pole-position, which I managed to turn into a win + fastest lap, and it happened twice in a row. Then another win (not from pole) yesterday to finish the week. Being a relatively new player and rookie driver, this was kinda neat. I also got helped out by a random A-ranked driver (a complete stranger to me?!) and I am so very grateful for their time (XERO42084 if you're reading this -- thank you so so so much!)
